So I have been doing a lot of reading lately on green tea supplements. I must say that I have not tried taking green tea pills so I can't really give my opinion on them. However, many studies and articles discuss the benefit of taking green tea extract pills. It seems as though this may be the way to get a high enough amount of extract to get some of the best results in fighting diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's. Drinking green tea alone can cause some great results for weight loss, healthy immune system, healthy teeth, etc. But is has always been debated whether or not drinking green tea is sufficient enough to fight major diseases.
So I have decided to see if I can find some good green tea supplements to try. If any of you have tried green tea supplements, please leave a comment and tell us about it!

Green tea helps prevent HIV infection
So here is the latest news I have found on green tea and its amazing benefits. A very early study has suggested that Green Tea may possibly help prevent HIV infection. The area of study must be researched much more heavily to come to any major conclusions, but this research shows that the EGCG in green tea binds with the cell receptors in the immune system and prohibits the HIV virus from binding with the cells. So once again another possible huge breakthrough for Green Tea.

Drinking tea is better than drinking water
So I came across an interesting article that discussed how drinking tea is better than drinking water. The article focuses it's main point on the fact that drinking water just replaces fluid and that's all, but drinking tea replaces fluid and adds antioxidants to the body. It is a very interesting point of view, one that I am sure can be argued either way. Now I am already a very avid tea drinker, but I also love my water, so I am going to stick with both. It is definitely a better combo than water and soda!!

Green Tea and Lung Cancer
A recent study was conducted that looked deeper into the effects of Green Tea on lung cancer. Like I posted before, many people are back and forth on the issue as to weather or not Green Tea helps with fighting cancer or cancer prevention, but the studies keep getting stronger and stronger!! This study used green tea extract on lung cancer cells in test tubes. The results showed that the green tea extract caused the cancer cells to clump up which prevented them from spreading. The researcher who conducted the study said that the results do not prove that drinking green tea prevents cancer, but it does show that it may be possible to use drugs made from green tea extract to fight the harmful disease.

Green Tea and Prostate Cancer
The battle continues. The American Association For Cancer Research recently released an article that talks about green tea helping to prevent prostate cancer. I realize that the FDA has said that they haven't found sufficient evidence that Green Tea prevents cancer, but if you do a bit of research on your own you will find that there is plenty of evidence that "suggests" that Green Tea can help prevent cancer. I understand that making false claims is wrong and that is why they must say that it is possible that Green Tea helps to prevent cancer and other diseases, but it is not 100% confirmed. What is 100% confirmed, however, is that drinking Green Tea is very very very healthy and there is really no reason or situation that drinking the beverage is harmful. So whether you want to believe the articles and studies or not, the fact is DRINK GREEN TEA because it might help your body and definitely won't hurt it!!

Green Tea boosts exercise endurance
I recently came across a study that shows that green tea can boost your endurance during exercise. We live in a world today where every athlete is looking for an edge. Unfortunately, many of these athletes have turned to steroids and other unhealthy endurance boosting supplements. This new study shows that there could be an alternative in Green Tea. Now, of course, green tea is not going to bulk you up like steroids, but the study shows that during physical exercise, green tea helped participants with better amounts of energy and endurance. I challenge any of you who exercise on a regular basis to try drinking green tea before and during your work out and see for yourself how it makes you feel. I would love for anyone who tries this to post a comment and let us know about your experience.

Green Tea and Pregnancy or trying to conceive
I have read a lot of articles that discuss the effects of green tea on women who are pregnant or trying to conceive. There are a lot of mixed views as to whether or not these women should drink green tea during these times. The reason behind those saying not to drink green tea deals with the amount of caffeine in the tea. I came across a great article by Dr. Weil. In the article he says that there are no real direct studies that show that women shouldn't drink green tea while pregnant or trying to conceive, but he does say they should probably limit their drinking due to caffeine. He states that there are studies that show that high caffeine intake can lead to miscarriages during pregnancy. He also talks of the negative effects that can happen when drinking a high amount of caffeine while breast feeding. So in conclusion it seems that drinking a moderate amount of green tea during pregnancy or while trying to conceive is an ok thing, but don't over do it!
